In the lower bunker of Station 12, an unknown woman tries to radio the station. One citizen escapes the initial massacre and tries to plead with Gordon to help him, but the citizen is quickly shot dead by a cop. This is the first time in Half-Life 2 a barnacle is seen.Īhead is Station 12, currently being raided by Civil Protection. The player sees a crow fly right into a barnacle tongue and be eaten. From there, the player arrives at the train station, encounters Barney, and leaves the interrogation room with the first freely openable door in the game. Crab synths would likely be less in count but nonetheless, could have been Antlion Guards that were contained and reformed into tanks. In the order commonly played, here is every Half-Life 2 map:Īrriving in City 17, Route Kanal, Black Mesa East, and ending with Ravenholm.Īrriving in City 17 all the way to meeting Alyx Vance. Aside from that, the sheer number of Antlions encountered by the Combine would allow them to be transformed and used as troops due to how common they are and are easy to replace due to their numbers. Their appearance, a long rounded abdomen along with two pairs of large insectoid legs only prove that their is a possibility that both of these synths were potentially once Antlions. As seen in īoth of the cut synths seem to be moving together in a pack or group, just like how regular Antlion soldiers would travel in hunting swarms along with the stronger Guards, as seen in the image where the Crab synth seems to be moving with the two smaller synths, almost how a Guard would with regular Antlions. Another possible Antlion synth was the Unidentified cut synth. The similarities are too many to be a simple coincidence, as both look nearly exactly the same in terms of appearance and size.

They look unusually similar to the Antlion Guard however, with both having a pointed head, with their legs almost matching in shape and position, Their looks alone dark brown armor, large powerful hind legs and smaller front legs used to maneuver quickly across terrain.

They are only glimpsed on the conveyor belt during the end of Half-life 2 along with another cut synth, the Mortar synth. The large, almost headcrab-like behemoth would have served as a tank and the backbone of the Combine's armies. To start this off, I'll go on with one of the more popular and semi successful synths in Half life, the obvious Crabsynth. I'll be going over what the Crab synth and 'Assault/unidentified synth' could have possibly been before transformation into the Combine's army.
